As we transitioned toward a fully standards based learning and restorative grading practices learning community, we were also dealing with the malaise of post-pandemic learning. It became clear
that we needed a robust policy and procedure to provide students with additional supports in order to become academically successful. In this case we instituted a minimum-time-in-class-provided
policy for all summative assessments to mitigate the number of incomplete grades from students. In addition, we moved toward a minimum 50% score policy to correct for a skewed 100% system.
These baby steps were necessary building blocks to lay the foundation for the institution of best practices in grading and assessment.
