Vernaculars explores shared histories in music drawing from jazz and creative music to urban and tribal vocabularies, leading to inspirations for flights into the future. We also find inspiration in our diasporic identities and give voice to these through original compositions contributed by each member of the band. The ensemble debuted in September 2024 as part of the Directions in Music Making by Asian Americans (+1 Canadian) Improvisers series co-curated by Francis and Chris at Sky Cafe in South San Francisco and followed this performance with a set at Karl's Jazz at the Make Out Room in San Francisco.
