These sample course outlines reflect my exploration of
Understanding by Design, an outcomes-based learning system
that was developed by Jay McTighe and Grant Higgins and that is
used by all teachers at Saint Mary's College High School.
Specifically, I borrow the concepts of big ideas, essential questions,
and core tasks to help guide my pedagogy. I also make specific reference
to evaluation guidelines and grading categories, which, in turn, hopefully
inform my overall assessment program.
