As a way of engaging in shared leadership of student programming, I proposed the idea of creating teams. I purposefully chose this name based on our founding president’s preference of greeting our faculty and staff with: “How’s it going, team?” Calling these associations teams rather than committees is also influenced by the work of Patrick Lencioni. Those entrusted with leadership or coordination responsibilities are called team leads and those who are members-at-large are called teammates. Cute, huh?
