I started playing guitar more seriously after a couple of years playing bass guitar. During my high school years, Pink Floyd's David Gilmour was my idol. Since bass guitar and guitar are part of the same fretted string instrument family, the transition from playing one to other is fairly easy. When I have a moment, I'll also post my keyboard collection.

The guitar I built [over the period of 2 years!]

While teaching at Saint Thomas More Collegiate I had a spare period which I used to build a guitar in the woodworking shop alongside other students. Many thanks to luthier and teacher Mike Kinal for guiding me and teaching me how to use the various tools. This guitar is a semi-hollow and countoured Telecaster-style guitar with the neck dimension from my Samick and a Rickenbacker-style headstock. Check out the process by clicking here.

The guitar used during my Dramatic Adrift years.

I bought this guitar in December of 1996 for $190. It belonged to a musician in Vancouver who played a lot of punk music and who used this Samick as a backup guitar. In my quest to be unique, I liked the fact that hardly anybody played Samick instruments except for Blues Saraceno who I knew nothing about. I was determined to become the second ever endorser of Samick instruments. While that dream has quietly and thankfully faded away, the instrument has nostalgic value for me. Today, Samick produces instruments for many other companies who then slap on their own logos on the finished product. I have little information about this series and if anyone has any more information, please drop me a line!

The steel string acoustic guitar I used on Guitar Craft.

I acquired this guitar along with my acoustic bass guitar and a Sabian ride cymbal in a trade for a Kinal bass guitar. It hadn't seen much light until I signed up for a Guitar Craft course with Robert Fripp in June of 2009. There, luthier Igor Abuladze upgraded the action and fine tuned it for the New Standard Tuning that is required on Guitar Craft courses. Along with the proper Guitar Craft NST strings, and the official Guitar Craft triangular pick, all I need to do now is practice to get the Guitar Craft right sound!

The steel string acoustic standby.

After having my blonde Epiphone setup for New Standard Tuning, I needed a a steel string guitar that I could play in using the regular 'Old Standard Tuning'. After a recent visit to Vancouver I walked in to one of my favourite music stores and saw this gem on the wall. It complements not only my blonde Epiphone but also my acoustic bass guitar!
